This year’s Tourism Park Tour and Explore 2011 saw the Emperor Valley Zoo showcased as one of the signature tourist destinations in Trinidad and Tobago.
This event was hosted by the Tourism Development Company Limited (TDC) during 12th to 21st August, 2011 at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya. Zoological Officer Sharleen Khan coordinated the exhibit and was assisted by Zookeepers Delbert Charleau, Walter Bonyun, Faustin Ramkaransingh and several volunteers.
Thousands of visitors had an opportunity to view the Zoo’s live animal display featuring common barn owls, boa constrictors, macaws, parrots, a mandrill, prehensile-tailed porcupine, channel-billed toucan, agouti, tortoises, turtles, rabbits and guinea pigs. Visitors were also thrilled by the Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago Inc.’s educational booth, petting zoo and animal stage shows.
