On August 1st we celebrated Emancipation Day in Trinidad and Tobago. The Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago joined the celebrations of another year of freedom with a poster display which commenced on 24th July 2012. Patrons that were unaware of the events that led to this momentous day in history were briefed as they read about the journey from slavery to complete freedom.
Our Zoo mascots were on hand to entertain the children and adults as they paraded through the Zoo throughout the afternoon. At the “Animal Encounter” station the famous ambassadors and stars of our well known “Zoo to You” program thrilled hundreds of patrons as they interacted and learnt about them from the dedicated caregivers, education officers and volunteers. Some of the children even took time out to play with a few of the African instruments on display.
